Persib Bandung's Impressive Unbeaten Streak in BRI Liga 1 Continues with Victory Over PS Barito Putera

Persib Bandung has achieved a remarkable milestone by extending their unbeaten run in the BRI Liga 1 to 18 consecutive matches. This streak dates back to last season’s Championship Series, further solidified by a crucial win against PS Barito Putera on Wednesday (December 18) at the Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul, Yogyakarta, during match week 15 of the 2024/25 BRI Liga 1 season.

The last time Persib tasted defeat in the BRI Liga 1 was against PSS Sleman on April 30, 2024. Since then, they have amassed 12 wins and six draws across 18 matches. “We remain unbeaten. We haven’t lost in 18 matches, which includes four matches in last season’s Championship Series and 14 matches this season,” stated Bojan Hodak, the head coach of Persib Bandung.

Hodak’s stellar performance as last season’s best coach continues to reflect in the team’s current form. He attributed the team's success not to luck but to their hard work and resilience. Despite losing key players from last season's title-winning squad and dealing with persistent injury issues, Persib has maintained their competitive edge.

In addition to their domestic commitments, Persib is also competing in the AFC Champions League 2, which has created a congested schedule for players like Marc Klok and his teammates. Despite these challenges, Persib has shown consistent quality on the field. “It shows that we are playing well, and this is not just a result of luck,” affirmed Hodak, the Croatian tactician.

Persib is currently in a fierce race with Persebaya Surabaya for the top spot in the BRI Liga 1 standings. Persebaya’s strong start to the season, coupled with successful player acquisitions, has made them formidable title contenders.

“We are the only team capable of chasing Persebaya at the top of the standings. Persebaya has done an excellent job in player recruitment. They’re hungry, they’re good, and yes, a little luck is always needed,” Hodak admitted.

Looking ahead, Hodak emphasized the importance of maintaining their momentum for the remainder of the season. He hopes that his squad can close December on a high note to strengthen their title challenge against Paul Munster’s Persebaya.

“We’ll see how we perform this December. If we can end this month positively, then we’ll have a strong chance of competing with Persebaya for the title this season,” said Hodak.

With the season’s second half approaching, Persib’s unbeaten streak has not only demonstrated their quality but also established them as serious contenders for the BRI Liga 1 title. Fans eagerly await to see if this momentum will carry them to the championship.
